Sod Installation in Redding, CA

A new lawn in days, on ground that has been graded and prepared so the sod takes.

New sod in a side yard between a concrete path and gravel

What we do

The lawn is only as good as what is under it.

Sod gives you a finished lawn right away. Whether it roots evenly or struggles through its first summer comes down to the grading, the soil preparation and whether every corner gets water.

We prepare the ground, check the sprinkler coverage, lay the sod with tight seams and go over watering with you before we leave. We install a 90/10 tall fescue mix.

  • New lawns for unfinished yards and new homes
  • Full lawn replacement
  • Partial replacement of worn or damaged areas
  • Soil preparation, grading and irrigation review

Built for Redding

Sod in Redding heat.

Heat and dry weather are hard on new sod. Sunny areas dry out faster than shaded ones, and hard-packed soil keeps roots from getting down. That is why watering needs to be sorted out before the sod arrives.

  • Rooting usually begins within the first couple of weeks
  • Keep traffic light while it establishes
  • Artificial turf is an option where grass struggles

Questions

Sod Installation: common questions.

How long does new sod take to establish?

It usually starts rooting within the first couple of weeks. Full establishment depends on watering, weather, soil and how much the lawn gets walked on. Water it well and stay off it early.

Sod or seed?

Sod gives you a finished, usable lawn much sooner. Seed takes longer and is less predictable. If you want the lawn soon, sod is usually the better choice.

Does the ground need to be prepared first?

Yes, and it is the most important part. The surface has to be graded and prepared so the sod sits tight against the soil and roots evenly.

Can you replace only part of a lawn?

Yes. If the rest of the lawn is in decent shape, replacing just the worn or damaged sections can make sense.

Do I need irrigation before sod goes in?

New sod needs steady water while it establishes. Either have irrigation in place or be sure you can water the whole lawn reliably.

Should I repair my lawn or replace it?

If it is thin and patchy all over, or has irrigation or grading problems, replace it. If the trouble is limited to a few sections, repair or partial replacement is usually enough.

Can sod be part of a larger project?

Yes. Sod is often one of the last steps after grading, planting, irrigation work or hardscaping.
