Custom Landscape Design in Redding, CA
A clear plan for your front yard, backyard or rock landscape before any money goes into the ground.
What we do
See the whole yard before you build any of it.
A design answers the expensive questions first. Where does the patio go? How does water leave the yard? What gets planted where? You decide on paper, where a change costs nothing.
We design for how you will use the space and for what the property gives us: sun, slope, soil and drainage. The plan can be built all at once or a piece at a time.
- Front yard, backyard and rock landscape design
- Planting plans: trees, shrubs and accent plants

Built for Redding
Designed for this climate.
A design that works in Redding plans for heat, dry summers, hard sun, the soil you have, runoff and slope. It also plans for how much upkeep you are willing to do.
For most homes a landscape designer is the right fit. A landscape architect is usually needed only for engineered projects, heavy regrading or permit-heavy work.
- Plants and materials that go easy on water
- Layouts that make sense for the lot
- A realistic plan for your budget

Questions
Landscape Design: common questions.
What does a landscape design include?
The layout of planting areas, rock and mulch, paths, patios, drainage, lighting and seating, and how they fit together. In Redding it also plans for heat, slope and water use.
Do I need a landscape designer or a landscape architect?
For most homes, a designer. A designer plans the layout, look and use of a yard. An architect is for larger or more technical work: engineered plans, complex grading, public spaces or heavy permitting.
Can I hire someone just to design my yard?
Yes. Many homeowners have a design done first so they can decide on layout, materials and planting before spending on the build. It helps most when several features have to work together.
How do I choose a designer, and what should I ask?
Ask what kinds of projects they design, what the design includes, whether it can be built in phases and how they handle revisions. Be wary of vague answers, a rush to start building, or a plan that ignores drainage or your budget.
What is the difference between landscape design and garden design?
Garden design is mostly about the planting. Landscape design covers the whole yard: planting, rock, paths, patios, drainage and lighting. Most full-yard projects need the second.
Can a landscape design be installed in phases?
Yes. One plan, built in stages. You do the priority first and add the rest later, and the yard still comes out looking like one design.
